The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is the world's largest development service network and the UN system's central funding and coordinating agency for technical cooperation.Its work, done through its network of some 134 offices world-wide, is directed at assisting developing countries to gain the knowledge and the resources needed to achieve sustainable human development. In support of this objective, the UNDP focuses on the following central initiatives: poverty elimination; governance; creation of jobs and sustainable livelihoods; advancement of women; and protection and regeneration of the environment. The European office of UNDP is engaged in constituency-building and advocacy, in support of sustainable human development, with European donor country governments, parliamentarians, NGOs and media.
