The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations was founded in 1961 by Air traffic Controllers from 12 European countries. It has since then grown to 101 Member Associations from all continents, and is the internationally recognised voice of the Air Traffic Controller. IFATCA is an independent, non-governmental, non-political professional organisation, and its main objectives are: to promote safety, efficiency and regularity in international air navigation - to assist and advise in the development of safe and orderly systems of air traffic control - and to promote and uphold a high standard of knowledge and professional efficiency among air traffic controllers.
