The International Touring Alliance (Alliance Internationale de Tourisme) is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation association representing some 130 motoring organisations and touring clubs around the world. The organisation was founded in 1898 at the very first international organisation of tourists. The AIT’s work today focuses on tourism and mobility, with particular emphasis on automobile motorists, campers, caravanners, cyclists, pedestrians and nautical tourists. The dedication of the AIT to the promotion of tourism and defence of the rights of the individual tourist has also reinforced its commitment to environmental and road safety concerns.
