WVI is an international, Christian, humanitarian relief and development agency. Founded in 1950, it is a worldwide partnership of national entities which oversee about 4'300 projects in over 96 countries with an estimated 85 million beneficiaries. WVI provides relief aid and rehabilitation assistance in times of disaster or conflict and long-term community development programmes in health, agriculture, water and education in response to human needs. The partnership is also involved in development education, advocacy, leadership training and support for indigenous organisations, including churches and community groups. The Geneva International Liaison Office was established in 1985 and was set up with the purpose of developing relationships with United Nations agencies and non-governmental organisations based in Geneva. World Vision is a member of the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA), and the Fédération des organisations internationales de Genève (FIIG).
