The Institute of Development Studies is dedicated to teaching and research on development issues and was created in 1961 as a training centre for African Students. The teaching at IUED endeavours to offer the students a theoretical and critical perspective of development on a global scale. Its vision is to raise questions in their globality and diversity (social, economic, environmental) and to strengthen links between theory and experience, reflection and action. The Graduate Institute of Development Studies is attached to the University of Geneva.
